South Percy Island

We dragged ourselves away from the oysters determined to reach the yachties mecca, “The Percy’s”. We had a great sail over to the Percy’s with Amanda at the helm, the MPS out and Thyme flying at over 8 knots.

No sooner had we anchored when a sailing dinghy came alongside with fellow sailor “Dinghy Des” aboard. Our friendship was secured over a number of tasty ciders we had brewed at Lady Musgrave Island. Plans were made for exploring the South Percy Island the following day. Little did we know this would include risking life and limb exploring underground caves, scaling cliffs and swimming in our underwear (must be in the NZ genes)!

Despite some great fishing, scenic walks and clear refreshing beaches the lure of the famous Middle Percy was calling and we headed off in the company of Des in ‘Valkyrie’ for West Bay.
